Triumph Over Your Fears
An animated short film to be used in a psychological research study in March 2025
The Story
Two friends experiencing mental health struggles seek help. The treatment required is different, but the results are the same.
Animation is a young and popular art form in modern society, and it has great educational potential to be used in research due to its popularity and the appealing nature of the characters on screen. This film is meant to educate the public on the differences between a mental disorder named Generalized Anxiety Disorder and a passing feeling of anxiety humans face called Situational Anxiety. What most people feel is situational anxiety which is only a brief feeling of uneasiness compared to a long-term feeling of anxiousness in Generalized Anxiety Disorder. The purpose of this study is to use an animated short film that compares the two feelings of anxiety, document the public's knowledge between the two, gauge mental health biases in adult populations and if animation is a good tool to explain the differences.
